A brand identity for tech start-up VeslSim worldwide roaming designed by Yacht Crew, for Yacht Crew.
The challenge
VeslSim provide a global roaming solution designed by Yacht Crew, for Yacht Crew, ensuring they can stay connected when working on board ship or on shore leave. The software enables the crew to stay connected, anytime, anywhere. No more swapping sims each time you dock. They needed a simple visual that immediately told their brand story.
The approach
Rather than using my full strategic process, this project required a focused creative solution that could work across digital channels for their sophisticated target audience.
I used the recognisable shape and format of a SIM card as the foundation. Even though the product doesn't use a physical sim, it's a very recognizable form. The data lines carved into the chip are designed to resemble the V-shaped waves left in the wake of a ship cutting through the waves, it also mimics the hull of a ship. The logotype is a dynamic mark that complements the symbol. Key messaging; ‘Anyport. Anywhere. Connected.’ clearly positions the offering in the minds of the audience.
The results
The color palette references the deep aqua green of the sea and golden hue when the sun hits, used alongside photographic textures to ensure the brand appeals to its sophisticated yacht crew audience. The identity successfully communicates the product's purpose through instantly recognisable visual language.
